Woodlands Elementary Year-end Update
We’ve had a fantastic 22/23 school year at Woodlands Elementary!
Highlights
We were excited to once again welcome Woodlands families to our Ice Cream Social – this annual school year kick-off event in September brings our school community together to visit, play outside, and enjoy a treat.
This year our students enjoyed field trips to Fish Creek Provincial Park and the Calgary Landfill. We’ve had great turnout for our art, coding, and chess clubs as well as school patrols. Our grade 1 to 4 students spent a week at Canyon Meadows Pool for swimming lessons and, with the support of our School/Parent Councils, all students had a chance to learn tennis, in-line skating and netball from local experts and worked with an oral storyteller to support literacy skills. Our grade 5 and 6 students are looking forward to Outdoor School at Kamp Kiwanis in June.
We were proud of all our students who performed The Grinch Who Stole Christmas to a packed house in December, among several other amazing assemblies hosted by our students.
With a focus on mental wellness, our School/Parent Councils welcomed Dr. Caroline Buzanko who talked to parents about how to help their children manage anxiety and build resilience. As well, some of our students were selected to participate in the YWCA’s Mindful Moments program.
We also hosted a Woodlands family dance with students and parents from all grades enjoying a live DJ, concession treats and a chance to have fun together on Star Wars Day (May the Fourth).

Join us for our year-end Carnival
We invite all community members to our year-end Carnival. Join us outside Woodlands School on Thursday, June 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for food, fun and the chance to win prizes. We can only accept cash for entrance ($2 per child, adults are free) and the concession.
Thank you for your support
Throughout the year, we ran two successful bottle drives and several fundraisers with all proceeds going towards supporting our students with field trips, outdoor school, needed supplies, and upcoming renovations to our school spaces. We appreciate Woodcreek community members’ support of our school and our students.
We also wish to thank the many parents and community members who volunteer in our classrooms, join us on field trips, and make sure our fundraising events – including our late-night casino in October – go off without a hitch.
We couldn’t do what we do without you.
